DR.DENTISTE’S dental academy is an academy that focuses on teaching the DOCTOR about ENGINEERING of teeth so that he/she can work like an ARTIST and thus a DENTIST is created.
Our strong focus is on developing skills and knowledge in the different branches of dentistry along with incorporating modern advances in technology into today’s clinical practice.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:

* This programme is specially designed to improve the skills in orthodontics that is lacking in our BDS curriculum.
* This course focus on a particular system followed worldwide for treating orthodontic patients with a focus on art and science of orthodontics.

COURSES OFFERED:
1. Short Term Orthodontic Course – This Includes The Basic Understandig Of Orthodontics, Diagnosis And Management, Cephalometric Analysis, Model Analysis, Photographic Analysis, Treatment Methods, Bonding, Banding, Wire Sequence, Wire Placement, Mini Implants, Debonding, Retention And Relapse Etc. Hands On Also Available On Models.
2. Long Term Orthodontic Course – This Includes Every Detail Of Orthodontics With Unlimited* No. Of Patients To Be Done By Student Only. This Programme Doesnot Include Surgical Orthodontics, Lingual Orthodontics, Aligners.
3. Fellowship Programme – Includes Every Aspect Of Orthodontic Treatment Ranging From Removable Appliance To Fixed Appliance To Surgical Orthodontics To Aligners.
MODULE-1
1. INTRODUCTION TO ORTHODONTICSAims of orthodontic treatment, branches of orthodontics, timing of orthodontic treatment and scope of orthodontic treatment.
2. PRINCIPLE OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT – Types of growth, prenatal and post natal growth, development of dentition.
3. CLASSIFICATION AND ETIOLOGY – Basic concepts of occlusion, classification, etiology of various malocclusion.
4. LABORATORY PROCEDURES – Soldering, welding
HANDS ON – soldering and welding exercise.
MODULE - 2
5. DIAGNOSIS AND DIAGNOSTIC AIDS – Clinical examination, intra oral and extra oral examination, functional examination, models analysis, cephalometric analysis.
6. BIOMECHANICS – Phases of tooth movement, theories of tooth movement, types of tooth movement, types of orthodontic force.
7. PREVENTIVE AND INTERCEPTIVE ORTHODONTICS – Space maintainers, serial extraction, space regaining, habits
HANDS ON – space maintainers fabrication, habit breaking appliances.
MODULE - 3
8. TREATMENT PLANNING – Anchorage, space gaining methods, arch expansion, extraction and non extraction in orthodontics
9. ARMAMENTERIUM – Banding instruments, bonding instruments, wire cutters, wire forming pliers, debonding pliers, debanding pliers.
10. PRE- CLINICAL ORTHODONTICS – Basics of bends, right angle bend, loops, helices.
HANDS ON – wire bending exercises, arch expansion appliances fabrication, anchorage devices.
MODULE – 4
11. ORTHODONTIC APPLIANCES – Removable orthodontic appliances, fixed orthodontic appliances.
12. BRACKETS AND ARCHWIRES – Different types of bracket, different types of archwires and there uses, magnets, elastics, separators.
13. TECNIQUES – Edgewise technique, Begg’s technique, straight wire technique, lingual technique, aligners.
HANDS ON – separators placing exercise, bonding, banding. Wire placement. MODULE - 5
14. MYO FUNCTIONAL APPLIANCES – Different types of functional appliances, twin block appliance.
15. ORTHOPEDIC APPLIANCE – Principle of use, different appliances, headgear, face mask, chin cup.
16. CORRECTIVE ORTHODONTICS –
Management of class I malocclusion, class II malocclusion, class III malocclusion, midline diastema, open bite, deep bite, cross bite, cleft lip and palate.
HANDS ON – fabrication of myo functional appliances, orthopaedic appliances.
MODULE - 6
17. SURGICAL ORTHODONTICS – Orthognathic surgeries.
18. RETENTION AND RELAPSE – Causes, retainers
19. RECENT ADVANCES IN ORTHODONTICS – Mini screws, invisalign(aligners), lasers, adult orthodontics.
HANDS ON – fabrication of a retention appliance, surgical splint fabrication, mini screws insertion, aligners fabrication.
* Each module is of 1 day duration.
* Classes are held on weekend and once a month (in short term courses classes are held twice in a week).
* The follow up of self started cases will have to be done by the student itself.
* It may take upto 1 year to complete a orthodontic treatment, the student is encouraged to take up the treatment and do a quality treatment for as much time as they want without any further charge.
* Each student will be provided with 10 case from the academy, however if a student wish to do more patient for his/her confidence that will be provided to the students with only a little extra charge (cost of material only).
* All the students are provided with the instruments required for completion of courses, breakfast, lunch, patients, certificates, study material, e books etc.
? All the students will be provided with post course assistance upto 1 year for free.
